According to a statement from LASEMA’s Permanent Secretary, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the victims included a 15-year-old boy and two adult males.

Emergency responders recovered their bodies, which were subsequently handed over to SEHMU officials for further processing.

In addition to the fatalities, six people were rescued alive from the debris and received immediate medical attention.

LASEMA reported that the collapsed structure was completely demolished, leaving it at ground zero. The search and rescue operation was concluded shortly thereafter.

The collapse occurred at a building still under construction, and while the cause remains unknown, authorities have indicated that a thorough investigation will follow.

Earlier reports from the agency had confirmed one adult male dead and four others injured, but the death toll was later revised to three.

The incident has brought attention to the ongoing risks at construction sites in the city. As investigations continue, LASEMA has pledged to ensure that all safety regulations are reviewed to prevent such tragedies in the future.
