The AU Peace Fund is instrumental in financing conflict resolution, mediation, and preventive diplomacy efforts, helping to ensure rapid responses to emerging security challenges in Africa.

UBA’s support aligns with the AU’s Agenda 2063, which envisions a peaceful, secure, and prosperous Africa.

Speaking on the significance of this contribution, Tony Elumelu, UBA Group Chairman, emphasised that corporate institutions must play a role in shaping Africa’s future by investing in peace and security.

“UBA is committed to advancing sustainable development and uplifting the quality of life across Africa.

Economic growth and business prosperity are closely linked to stability and security, and we are proud to support the AU’s efforts in building a peaceful continent,” Elumelu said.

The Chairman of the AU Peace Fund Executive Management Committee, H.E. Moussa Faki Mahamat, acknowledged UBA’s vital contribution, noting that:

“Peace is synonymous with resources. If we want development and stability, we must achieve peace.

UBA has demonstrated its commitment to Africa’s progress by investing in sustainable peace initiatives.”

UBA’s history of corporate responsibility extends beyond this donation. The UBA Foundation previously contributed $14 million to aid Africa’s fight against COVID-19, providing relief materials, critical healthcare facilities, and financial support to 20 African nations.

With a presence in over 20 African countries and international offices in the United Kingdom, the United States, France, and the UAE, UBA continues to champion financial inclusion and economic empowerment across the continent.
