Singer Portable arraigned in Ogun high court over assault case

Nigerian singer Portable has been arraigned in an Ogun high court over an alleged assault on government officials

[dropcap]N[/dropcap]igerian singer Habeeb Okikiola Olalomi, popularly known as Portable, has been arraigned at the Isabo High Court in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The artist was declared wanted by the police on 18 February in connection with an alleged assault on three officials from the Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority (OGPDPA).

Portable surrendered himself to the police in Lagos on Wednesday before being transferred to the Ogun State Police Command.

The singer appeared in court on Thursday to face charges related to the attack.

The incident began on 5 February when OGPDPA officials attempted to seal Portable’s bar, citing missing permits and inadequate air space.

The confrontation escalated when Portable allegedly led a violent attack on the unarmed officials, leaving them injured. Fortunately, they managed to escape.

As a result of the attack, nine of Portable’s associates were arrested and arraigned on a five-count charge. The charges include armed violence, felony, obstruction, assault, and intent to kill.
