[dropcap]A[/dropcap] tragic plane crash occurred on Monday night just off the coast of Roatan Island in Honduras, leaving seven dead and 10 others rescued from the wreckage.

The plane, a Jetstream aircraft operated by Honduran airline Lanhsa, had taken off from Roatan and was headed to La Ceiba airport on the Honduran mainland.
According to the country’s transport ministry, the aircraft was carrying 14 passengers and three crew members. The wreckage was located approximately 1 kilometre (0.6 miles) from the island’s coast.
The survivors were pulled from the wreckage, and video footage shared by the national police showed emergency workers carrying them onto a rocky coastline, with some survivors being transported on stretchers.
Among the passengers were a US national, a French national, and two minors, as indicated by the flight manifest shown by local media.
Fire officials confirmed the death toll, which included well-known Garifuna musician Aurelio Martinez Suazo, further adding to the sadness surrounding the tragedy.
The cause of the crash remains unclear at the time of this report, with investigations underway. Rescue efforts were carried out throughout the night by police, fire services, and other emergency responders.
