The video shows a police officer, identified as Obic Modestus, physically assaulting the Uber driver, despite pleas from passengers in the vehicle.

Oyindamola described the video as depicting “Nigerian police men vi0lently assault!ng an uber driver,” and emphasized that the victim was “someone’s father they’re beat!ng like an animal.”

The video quickly gained traction, drawing reactions from numerous social media users. Comments included expressions of shock and dismay, such as “Jesus why did they beat him up” and “They seized his phone.”

Another account, attributed to TikTok user @abekadams, shared a personal experience, stating, “I experienced police brutality today!!!! I don’t wish it on anybody.”

Oyindamola’s post also tagged prominent figures and handles, including @NigeriapolicePR and @BenHundeyin, in an effort to bring immediate attention to the incident.

The Lagos State Police Command responded to the widespread outrage by announcing the dismissal of Officer Obic Modestus.

The swift action underscores the increasing scrutiny of police conduct in Nigeria and the power of social media in holding law enforcement accountable.
