[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he Delta State Police Command has announced the arrest of a 49-year-old woman, Joy Temitope, for allegedly stealing a two-month-old baby in Koko.

The arrest was confirmed in a statement released by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, on Monday, June 2, 2025.
According to SP Edafe, the suspect reportedly lured and deceived a 20-year-old mother before allegedly drugging her and fleeing with her infant son.
“The suspect, Mrs Joy Temitope, aged 49 years lured and deceived a 20-year-old girl who had a two-month-old baby. She drugged the girl and stole her baby somewhere in Koko, Delta State,” the statement read.

Edafe further detailed that the arrest was the result of intelligence-driven policing, which enabled law enforcement to track down and apprehend the suspect approximately three months after the incident.
The baby boy, who is now five months old, was successfully rescued and has since been reunited with his mother.

The Delta State Police Command emphasized its commitment to protecting vulnerable citizens and ensuring that perpetrators of such crimes are brought to justice.
