The National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons made the announcement during a formal renaming ceremony, acknowledging her motherly support and dedication to social inclusion.

Speaking at the event, Federal Commissioner Alhaji Tijani Ahmed stated that the city now accommodates 40 households and provides a safe and dignified environment for 239 individuals.

These residents, formerly living in precarious situations, now have access to decent housing, essential services, and sustainable livelihoods.

While celebrating the progress, Ahmed reminded attendees of the scale of the crisis.

He noted that over 6.1 million Nigerians remain displaced, with many women and children still forced to take shelter in unsafe places such as market stalls, abandoned structures, and urban slums. He called for increased intervention to ensure that dignity becomes a reality for every citizen.

Ahmed further praised the Tinubu administration for its commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable communities.

He urged the federal government to invest in replicating the resettlement model across more states to bring lasting relief to affected populations.

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, echoed these sentiments and gave a firm assurance of continued government support.

“Your voices are heard, you are seen, and you matter. You now have access to a good life and dignity,” he told the beneficiaries.

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, who hosted the occasion, revealed that the state had provided farmland to support the community’s agricultural needs.

He lauded the resettlement initiative as an example of true intergovernmental cooperation and expressed confidence in the positive long-term outcomes it would bring.

In her address, Senator Oluremi Tinubu expressed heartfelt appreciation and said the resettlement effort aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda championed by President Bola Tinubu.

“I am pleased to witness the resettlement of 40 households into a safe and dignified environment.

This development reaffirms the president’s commitment to improving the welfare of all Nigerians, ensuring they live in dignity, attend school, and contribute productively to society,” she said.

The centre is equipped with essential amenities such as places of worship, recreational spaces, a market, and greenhouses to support agriculture.

Residents are encouraged to rebuild their lives with purpose and independence while being surrounded by a strong sense of community.

With the establishment of Oluremi Tinubu Resettlement City, Nigeria takes a meaningful step toward solving the displacement crisis.

It also signals hope that through compassion, partnership, and policy, millions more can be given a second chance at a decent life.

The city now stands as both a sanctuary and a symbol of the nation’s ongoing commitment to dignity and social equity for all.
