Pastor Adeboye anger warning

Pastor Adeboye anger warning during July Holy Ghost Service cautions against rage, calling it “temporary madness” and a threat to destiny and spiritual growth

[dropcap]P[/dropcap]astor Adeboye anger warning delivered during the July Holy Ghost Service stunned worshippers and online viewers as the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, described anger as “temporary madness” and a dangerous tool of destiny destruction.

Speaking on Friday evening at the Redemption City of God in Mowe, Ogun State, the 82-year-old cleric addressed a crowd of thousands, drawing attention to the spiritual and emotional cost of uncontrolled rage.

“Anger is temporary madness,” he said. “You don’t want to be mad. Some people will do some things that will cause you to be angry, but don’t fall into their trap.”

The revered preacher, widely known for his calm demeanour and spiritual discipline, confessed that he has been the subject of numerous public insults and criticisms.

However, he stressed that no amount of provocation could compel him to respond in anger or retaliation.

“There are many of you who have been wondering,” he said, pausing to look across the congregation. “A lot of people have been saying whatever they want – all kinds of nonsense about me and they are waiting for me to get angry one day. That is what they are planning, but I’m going to reach my goal.”

His words drew spontaneous applause and nods of agreement from worshippers who had gathered at the RCCG’s expansive campground, many of whom were hearing such candid reflection from their leader for the first time.

The sermon, themed around spiritual discipline and inner peace, resonated deeply. Adeboye reiterated that emotional outbursts, especially from those in leadership, could destroy years of hard work and divine purpose.

“One of the easiest ways to have your destiny destroyed is to get angry,” he said solemnly.

In the same message, Pastor Adeboye shared an anecdote that further highlighted his strict prioritisation of divine calling over human accolades.

He recounted how a head of state from another African country once sought him out for divine healing after failing to find a medical solution to his condition.

According to Adeboye, the political leader had tried various doctors and treatments to no avail before being advised to reach out to him based on testimonies of miraculous healing.

The request was passed on through the local pastor of the country’s RCCG branch. However, Adeboye declined the high-profile invitation.

“I said tell the excellency that I’m very busy,” he explained. “I didn’t want to say there is one excellency that is more excellent than the other, but I’m sorry I can’t come.”

He added that he had instructed the pastor to inform the leader that his calendar was booked a full year in advance.

“I think when the problem reached a stage, he changed his mind,” he said with a smile. “And the very day he got on this campground, God solved the problem.”

The story underscored Adeboye’s unwavering focus on divine timing and humility, reinforcing his belief that God not man holds the final authority in healing, promotion, or purpose.

Throughout the service, Pastor Adeboye continued to emphasise the importance of character over charisma, urging his followers to resist provocations, especially in today’s digital age, where public figures face constant scrutiny.

Worshippers described the night as one of the most soul-searching and reflective services in recent months.

“It felt like Daddy G.O. was speaking directly to me,” said a member of the congregation who gave her name as Sister Fisayo. “I needed that reminder to stop allowing emotions to ruin what God is doing in my life.”

As the RCCG prepares for its annual convention in August, Pastor Adeboye’s message is expected to echo throughout the church’s global branches.
