Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Dr) Mudashiru Obasa, expressed deep sorrow, describing Buhari’s passing as a significant loss to the country.

In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Dave Agboola, Speaker Obasa paid tribute to the late leader’s decades of service to Nigeria.

He noted that Buhari’s role in national development and his commitment to unity left a permanent imprint on the country’s political history.

“President Buhari served our nation with a commitment that will be remembered as a significant part of our history,” Obasa said.

“His contributions to the development and unity of Nigeria have left an indelible mark on our country.”

While we grieve his loss, we must also honour his contributions and reflect on the values he championed throughout his time in office.

The Speaker highlighted the importance of honouring the life and values of the former president, urging citizens to see beyond the grief and appreciate Buhari’s enduring impact.

“While we grieve his loss, we must also honour his contributions and reflect on the values he championed throughout his time in office,” he said.

Obasa called on Nigerians to unite in tribute and continue the work Buhari began during his tenure as military Head of State and later as a two-term elected president.

“Let us come together in this time of sorrow, united in our commitment to building the Nigeria he envisioned,” he added.

The Lagos Speaker extended his sympathies to Buhari’s family and to all Nigerians affected by his passing.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and all who were touched by his leadership. May his soul rest in peace.”

As Nigeria reflects on the legacy of a man who led the country through critical moments, Obasa mourning Buhari passing serves as both a tribute and a call to action—to build a nation grounded in the principles of service, sacrifice, and unity that Buhari symbolised.
