APC demands election cancellation in Kano, citing violence, intimidation, and disrupted voting in Shanono, Bagwai, and Ghari constituencies.
All Progressives Congress APC has demanded election cancellation in Kano State following widespread violence and disruption that marred the bye-elections in Shanono/Bagwai constituency and the Ghari constituency rerun election.
The ruling party raised alarm that armed thugs stormed several polling units in Shanono, Bagwai, and Ghari constituencies, causing panic and forcing voters to flee.
Reports also revealed that security operatives deployed to the areas were overwhelmed by the intensity of the violence, making a credible poll impossible.

According to APC, proceeding with the exercise under such conditions would not only undermine the democratic process but also establish a dangerous precedent for electoral malpractice.
The party stressed that violent voter intimidation is unacceptable and contradicts the dictates of free, fair, and peaceful elections.
“This is why we are calling on the Independent National Electoral Commission to immediately cancel the affected elections,” the press statement, signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Felix Morka, emphasised.
