Born Victor Tobechukwu Okoli, Vic Matt was reportedly kidnapped on Friday near Ntachi Osa and later killed by his abductors. The shocking news has thrown the Nigerian entertainment industry into mourning.

The devastating loss was first shared on Instagram by filmmaker Ben Cassie, who described him as a man of high principle and a rare figure in an industry often fraught with rivalry. She remembered him as cool, calm, intelligent, and passionate about making good films.

Cassie’s tribute read in part: It is hard for some of us to see those who genuinely wish us well. You always dropped words of encouragement even when I was most silent.

In an industry of snakes and scorpions, you stood different. To be kidnapped and killed is such a heart-wrenching way to leave this earth. Goodnight, Vic.”

Her emotional post has sparked an outpouring of grief from colleagues, fans, and industry stakeholders, many of whom took to social media to celebrate Vic Matt’s legacy.

Tributes highlight his dedication to storytelling, his support for emerging talents, and his unwavering professionalism.

As the industry grapples with this devastating loss, many are calling for stronger measures to protect creatives and ensure safety across the country.
