NDLEA Kano Command arrests Umar Adamu-Umar with 9kg Cannabis Sativa worth ₦10m along Zaria–Kano Road
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Kano Strategic Command has arrested a 27-year-old suspect, Umar Adamu-Umar, for being in possession of 9kg of Cannabis Sativa valued at over ₦10 million.

This was disclosed in a statement on Saturday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Sadiq Muhammad-Maigatari.
According to the NDLEA, the suspect, a resident of Fagge Local Government Area, was apprehended on August 6 along the Zaria–Kano Road by operatives of the Kiru Area Command while transporting 19 parcels of cannabis from Lagos to Kano.
“The suspect confessed to being involved in the illegal drug trade and had been under surveillance by the command for some time,” Muhammad-Maigatari said.
He explained that the bust was a major financial setback to drug traffickers, cutting off millions in revenue, disrupting supply chains, and reducing funds available for other criminal activities.
“Removing this quantity from circulation also helps protect vulnerable communities from the social and economic harms associated with narcotics,” he added.

The command’s spokesperson further assured that under the leadership of Mr Abubakar Idris-Ahmad, the NDLEA will intensify patrols and intelligence-driven operations to curb trafficking across Kano State.
