ADC Nafiu Bala Resignation Letter

ADC Nafiu Bala Resignation Letter dismissed as fake, with party accusing rivals of fabricating documents to hijack its leadership

ADC Nafiu Bala Resignation Letter has been dismissed as fake, with the factional chairman of the African Democratic Congress, Hon. Nafiu Bala, insisting he has not resigned and remains the party’s constitutionally recognised leader.

In a statement on Sunday, the Director of Media and Public Affairs, Dr. Christopher Okechukwu, said the letter, dated May 18, 2025, was fraudulent, unsigned, and without the official insignia of the ADC.

“The document is entirely fabricated and maliciously circulated by mischievous elements within and outside our party, seeking to destabilise the ADC,” Okechukwu said.

The party accused its former national chairman, Chief Ralph Okey Nwosu, and allied actors of orchestrating a plot to hijack its structures by submitting unauthorised documents to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), including the alleged resignation letter.

According to Okechukwu, “Hon. Nafiu Bala has not at any time resigned from his position, nor relinquished his leadership role.

The fraudulent document represents a desperate attempt to create confusion and destabilise party operations.”

He stressed that ADC leadership transitions are guided strictly by constitutional provisions, including membership duration, financial obligations, and due process. Any attempt to bypass these rules, he said, is illegitimate.

The statement urged INEC to reject unauthorised submissions and to recognise only Bala’s leadership. It also called on law enforcement agencies to investigate what it described as a calculated attempt to undermine democracy.

“Party members nationwide must remain vigilant against misinformation campaigns, while the public should disregard false claims of leadership change,” Okechukwu added.
