Antony leaves Manchester United for Real Betis in a £21.7m deal, marking a £64.3m loss for the Premier League club after just two years

Antony is set to join Real Betis after Manchester United agreed to sell the Brazilian winger for a fee of £21.7 million (€25 million), concluding one of the most expensive — and now most costly — signings in the club’s recent history.

The deal includes an initial £19 million (€22m) payment, with £4.3 million (€3m) in performance-based add-ons.

Manchester United have also secured a 50% net sell-on clause, ensuring potential future value if Betis later sells the player.

The 24-year-old is expected to fly to Spain for his medical in the coming days, with personal terms already agreed.

Antony has reportedly accepted a pay cut to make the move happen.

The transfer represents a staggering £64.3 million loss for United, who paid £86 million to sign Antony from Ajax in 2022 under then-manager Erik ten Hag.

Despite the high expectations, the winger struggled to deliver consistent performances in the Premier League.

A slight restructure from Friday’s initial agreement was finalized to facilitate the move, with both clubs now aligned on terms.

Antony’s exit comes at a time when United are looking to refresh their attacking options, while Real Betis see the Brazilian as a creative boost for their LaLiga campaign.
