Olayinka Akeem Babalola, announced the organisation’s $9.8 million commitment to combating malaria and diarrhoea in the country.
Babalola, who will assume leadership of the 119-year-old humanitarian body in July 2026, revealed the pledge during an interactive session with journalists in Abuja.
He emphasized that the investment underscores Rotary’s ongoing mission to improve healthcare systems, save lives, and support vulnerable communities in Nigeria.
Malaria and diarrhoea remain two of the leading causes of child mortality in Nigeria, particularly in rural and underserved regions.
By directing funds toward preventive measures, treatment programs, and community health initiatives, Rotary aims to reduce the devastating impact of these diseases.
Babalola’s announcement highlights Rotary International’s long-standing history of health interventions worldwide, including its pivotal role in the global fight against polio.
