NABTEB releases 2025 results, records Improved maths pass

Over 68% of candidates passed with five credits, including English and Maths

NABTEB releases 2025 June/July NBC/NTC results. Over 68% passed with five credits including English and Maths. Maths performance improves; malpractice cases drop

Abuja, Nigeria – The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) has officially released the results of the 2025 June/July National Business Certificate (NBC) and National Technical Certificate (NTC) examinations, with a notable improvement recorded in candidates’ performance in Mathematics.

The Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of NABTEB, Dr. Mohammed Aminu Mohammed, announced the results during a press briefing held on Thursday in Abuja.

According to Mohammed, 92,875 candidates registered for the 2025 examinations across 1,892 centres nationwide — marking a 37.08% increase in enrolment from 2024, and a 10.77% increase in exam centres.

  • Total Candidates Who Sat for the Exams: 89,621
  • Five Credits & Above (Including English & Maths): 61,104 candidates (68.18%)
  • Five Credits & Above (With or Without English & Maths): 74,633 candidates (83.28%)
  • Pass Rate in Mathematics: 94.60%
  • Pass Rate in English Language:93.10%

“More candidates passed Mathematics, while fewer passed English Language compared to last year,” Mohammed noted.

Candidates were assessed in a variety of disciplines including:

  • 16 Engineering Trades
  • 7 Construction Trades
  • 9 Miscellaneous Trades
  • 4 Business Trades
  • 16 General Education Subjects

NABTEB also reported a reduction in examination malpractice, with:

  • 435 candidates involved in 516 cases
  •  Compared to 349 candidates in 524 cases in 2024

“This is a decrease in the incidence of examination malpractices,” the Registrar confirmed.

 

Dr. Mohammed also announced that registration is now open for the November/December 2025 NBC/NTC and Advanced NBC/NTC (ANBC/ANTC) examinations.

Prospective candidates are encouraged to visit the NABTEB official portal or any State/Zonal office to obtain registration guidelines.

Established under Decree No. 70 of 1993, NABTEB is tasked with conducting examinations for technical and business trades, previously handled by foreign bodies like City & Guilds and RSA.

The NBC/NTC examinations are part of Nigeria’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) framework, aimed at equipping students with industry-relevant skills.
