Academic activities at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Oyo State, have been disrupted after the university’s chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) commenced an indefinite strike over the non-implementation of a 2025 agreement and unpaid entitlements.
The strike was announced in a statement signed by the union’s Chairman, Professor Olujimi Dada, and Secretary, Dr Soji Arinola.

According to the statement, the decision followed an emergency congress held on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, during which members resolved to suspend all academic activities until further notice.
The union said the industrial action was prompted by the failure to implement the 2025 agreement between the Federal Government and ASUU, as well as the non-payment of outstanding entitlements owed to its members.
The directive covers lectures, examinations, statutory meetings, laboratory work, teaching and other academic interactions with students.
“The suspension covers lectures, examinations, statutory meetings, laboratory work, teaching and other interactions with students,” the statement said.
The indefinite strike is expected to affect teaching and learning at the institution while the union’s outstanding demands remain unresolved.
However, the statement did not specify when the strike might be suspended or whether further discussions with the university management or government representatives had been scheduled.

The development comes amid recurring labour disputes in Nigeria’s university system over funding, staff welfare, salary-related issues and the implementation of agreements between university unions and government authorities.
