Dangote Sugar

With ₦274.12m in revenue, Dangote Sugar secures the top spot among Nigeria’s leading consumer goods companies as rivals post mixed performance results

Topping Nigeria’s list of top 10 consumer goods companies, Dangote Sugar posted a turnover of ₦274.12 million, reaffirming its leadership in a highly competitive market.

The figures, released on September 29, 2025, show a significant margin between Dangote and other major players, underscoring the brand’s dominance in the food manufacturing sector.

Trailing behind in second place is Nigerian Breweries, posting a turnover of ₦119.15 million — less than half of Dangote’s.

In an unexpected twist, Champion Breweries PLC surged into the third spot with ₦86.63 million, outperforming global giants like Guinness (₦68.60 million) and Nestlé Nigeria (₦46.30 million).

Here’s how the top 10 consumer goods firms stack up by turnover:

  1. Dangote Sugar – ₦274.12m
  2. Nigerian Breweries – ₦119.15m
  3. Champion Breweries PLC – ₦86.63m
  4. Guinness – ₦68.60m
  5. National Salt Co Nigeria – ₦63.82m
  6. BUA Foods – ₦55.59m
  7. Cadbury Nigeria – ₦50.15m
  8. Nestlé Nigeria – ₦46.30m
  9. Unilever Nigeria – ₦36.86m
  10. International Breweries – ₦35.31m

Analysts attribute Dangote Sugar’s performance to its scale of operations, efficient supply chain, and strong regional presence.

The company has maintained stability despite inflationary pressures, currency volatility, and high logistics costs that have challenged the broader FMCG industry.

Notably, legacy brands like Cadbury and Unilever fell toward the bottom half of the top 10, while newer or previously quieter players such as Champion Breweries posted standout numbers — a possible signal of shifting consumer preferences or internal restructuring gains.

With the fourth quarter approaching, industry watchers expect stiffer competition and perhaps a reshuffling of the list, but for now, Dangote Sugar turnover sets the pace for the sector.
