The decision was disclosed on Tuesday in a statement by Tunde Moshood, Special Adviser on Media and Communications to the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo.

According to Moshood, the agreement was reached during a courtesy visit by top executives of British Airways, led by Alan Campbell and Moran Birger, to the minister in Abuja on Monday.

The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral aviation relations, addressing operational issues, and modernising the existing Bilateral Air Services Agreement (BASA) to support mutual growth, ensure fair competition, and expand opportunities for both Nigerian and British carriers.

Both parties underscored the need to align the agreement with recent developments in the global aviation industry, enhancing regulatory cooperation and commercial benefits.

The British Airways delegation, while reaffirming the airline’s commitment to Nigeria, highlighted its 90-year presence in the country and revealed plans to celebrate the milestone in 2026.

Discussions also addressed improving passenger experience and maintaining smooth operations amid ongoing upgrades at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

Minister Keyamo commended British Airways for its long-standing partnership and assured stakeholders of the Federal Government’s commitment to creating a conducive environment for aviation business growth.
