Tinubu Trump meeting will dominate global attention in the coming days as President Bola Tinubu is set to meet with United States President Donald Trump to discuss allegations of a “Christian genocide” in Nigeria.

According to Daniel Bwala, the Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Policy Communication, the crucial engagement will focus on clarifying recent comments made by Trump, who accused the Nigerian government of failing to curb persistent attacks on Christians.
Bwala stated that both leaders share a mutual commitment to fighting insurgency and terrorism. He revealed that Trump had previously authorised the sale of arms to Nigeria, which Tinubu’s administration has since deployed effectively to combat terrorist groups across the country.
“Both President Tinubu and President Trump have a shared interest in the fight against insurgency and all forms of terrorism against humanity,” Bwala posted on X.
“As for the differences as to whether terrorists in Nigeria target only Christians or people of all faiths, such issues will be discussed and resolved during their meeting, either at the State House or the White House.”
The Tinubu Trump meeting comes amid heightened diplomatic attention following Trump’s stern remarks warning of potential U.S. military action to “wipe out” terrorist groups accused of killing Christians in Nigeria.
He also hinted at the possibility of halting aid to the country if the situation remains unaddressed.
Observers view the forthcoming dialogue as a powerful opportunity for Tinubu to rebuild trust with Washington and to present Nigeria’s counterterrorism efforts in a clearer light.
