The Obasanjo Responds Letter, made available by his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Akinyemi, follows an SMS from Fayose that mixed appreciation for Obasanjo’s attendance at his birthday with sharp criticism of the former president’s conduct.
In the note, Fayose accused Obasanjo of making “irresponsible comments” and questioned his mental state, further referencing a money matter that had previously drawn public attention. The message included pointed personal jabs, describing Obasanjo’s behaviour as “unchanged” and likening him to a leopard that never changes its skin.
Obasanjo’s response was succinct and firm. He acknowledged receiving Fayose’s message and clarified that the money in question had been returned via Foluso Adeagbo, “unopened by me.” He also noted that Fayose’s note revealed “who and what you are, unchanged and unchangeable.”
The exchange underscores the continued public sparring between the former president and the ex-governor, drawing attention from political observers and the media alike.
