Istanbul, Turkey, 26 November 2025: Canadian forward of Nigerian descent Promise David ended the long-standing Promise David Gala unbeaten run at Rams Park on Tuesday night, scoring the decisive goal as Royale Union Saint-Gilloise claimed a deserved 1-0 victory over Galatasaray in the UEFA Champions League.

Galatasaray were without Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen, sidelined by a hamstring injury, and his absence proved significant as the Turkish champions struggled to impose themselves.
Osimhen had been central to their earlier victories in the competition, yet in his absence it was David who captured the spotlight with a composed finish in the 57th minute.
The tone of the match defied expectations.
Galatasaray, winners of three straight group fixtures, appeared set for another comfortable outing, but the visitors produced the sharper first half.
David came close before the break, steering a deflected chance narrowly wide, while Ross Sykes later struck the crossbar with a powerful header that underlined USG’s ambition.
Galatasaray’s best moment of the opening period came when Gabriel Sara’s curling, left-footed effort flew beyond goalkeeper Kjell Scherpen only to rebound off the right post.
It was a reminder of their quality, though their overall play lacked the fluency that had powered their recent surge.
USG’s breakthrough arrived early in the second half.
After escaping a second booking for an earlier challenge on Uğurcan Çakır, David finished clinically from close range.
Raul Florucz released Adem Zorgane with a clever reverse pass, and the midfielder squared across goal for David to sweep in from a few yards out.
Galatasaray mounted late pressure as they chased an equaliser.
Sara saw a header pushed away at the near post, and from the ensuing corner Davinson Sánchez blazed over from inside the six-yard box.
Their night worsened when substitute Arda Ünyay received a second yellow card in the closing minutes.
