It was revealed that Adekunle Gold emotional moment became the centre of conversation after the Nigerian Afropop star admitted he broke down in tears a few months ago.

He told the story during a recent podcast appearance, explaining that the emotional outburst came when he watched his daughter, Deja, perform for the first time.

According to the singer, also known as AG Baby, the moment caught him off guard while he was walking down the street.

He said his family placed a video call to show him Deja’s debut performance, and the realisation that he was not physically present left him overwhelmed with pride, joy and sadness.

Adekunle Gold said it was a difficult reminder of the sacrifices entertainers make while juggling demanding schedules with family commitments.

He explained that the powerful emotions of that day later inspired his song “My Love is the Same”, a track that reflects the unseen struggles behind the glamour of fame.

He recalled wishing he had been able to witness the milestone in person and admitted that the feeling moved him to tears.

The singer, who is married to fellow musician Simi, has often spoken about the challenges of balancing work, success and family life.

The Afropop star said the experience strengthened his resolve to be present for his family despite the pressures that come with his career.
