Police condemn the Lagos road rage killing after a Benz driver allegedly dragged and fatally injured a young man during a parking dispute

The Nigerian Police Force has condemned the alleged Lagos road rage killing involving a yet-to-be-identified Mercedes Benz driver, after eyewitness reports and CCTV footage shared online detailed how a parking dispute escalated into a fatal attack.

According to social media user Omolomo, who first raised the alarm on X, the confrontation began when the driver of a white vehicle challenged the Benz owner for attempting to park in front of a residential building.

The altercation reportedly intensified until the Benz driver allegedly threatened that someone would die if he was prevented from parking at the spot.

Footage described by Omolomo appeared to show the suspect pretending to drive away before reversing in an attempt to hit those at the scene.

When this failed, the suspect allegedly grabbed the victim by the arm, accelerated with him hanging outside the car, and later flung him into a gutter.

The victim reportedly struck his head on a concrete slab, sustaining severe neck and spinal injuries.

Omolomo later updated followers that the victim had been admitted into an intensive care unit in critical condition. See videos below.

Hours after the initial report, he confirmed that the young man had died from his injuries.

The social media user also published the suspect’s alleged vehicle plate number and urged the public to help locate him, calling the act a senseless killing that should not go unpunished.

In an official response, the Police Public Relations Officer for Delta State, SP Bright Edafe, said authorities had begun reviewing the information.

Edafe urged the victim’s relatives to file a formal complaint at the nearest police station so that investigators could take decisive action.

He assured the public that the matter would be pursued in line with the law.
