Ekiti State Government to disburse ₦1bn to 4,657 youth farmers under the Bring Back Our Youths in Agriculture programme

The Ekiti State Government will disburse ₦1 billion to 4,657 beneficiaries under its Bring Back Our Youths in Agriculture programme, officials confirmed Wednesday.

Mr. Ebenezer Boluwade, State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, stated that the funds represent profits from the programme’s last farming season.

He added that the initiative aligns with the government’s empowerment drive to reinvest strategically in agriculture, ensuring food security and creating sustainable wealth for the state and its citizens.

The programme primarily empowers youths by providing access to land, farm inputs, technical support, and a guaranteed market, enabling them to build sustainable livelihoods and earn steady income.

Boluwade noted that ₦145 million was similarly disbursed to 911 youths under the scheme last year.

“The initiative operates a cluster-farming model covering maize, yam, soya beans, cassava, vegetables, rice, and beans. Our commitment has expanded farm cluster centres from five to twelve across Eporo, Ose, Ikere, Ogotun, Omuo, Egbe, Aramoko, Oke-Ako, Iyemero, Gede, Isan/Ayede, and Ise, with over 5,000 hectares cleared and five centres equipped with functional dormitories,” Boluwade said.

The government affirmed that revenues generated from farm clusters and government-led agricultural enterprises are reinvested into the sector to sustain growth and expand opportunities for young farmers.
