NIPSS military support call as the institute urges the Armed Forces of Nigeria to strengthen collaboration on research and policy solutions

The National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, led by its Director-General, Professor Ayo Omotayo, has called for stronger backing from the Armed Forces of Nigeria to enhance ongoing research and policy initiatives aimed at tackling the country’s pressing national challenges.

Professor Omotayo made the appeal during a courtesy visit to the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, at his office on Thursday.

During the meeting, Omotayo commended the Armed Forces of Nigeria for their resilience, sacrifice and unwavering commitment to safeguarding the nation’s unity and security.

He briefed the Chief of Defence Staff on current efforts by the institute to develop practical, research-driven solutions to national issues, including a collaborative project being undertaken with the Nigerian Army.

The NIPSS Director-General appealed for expanded institutional support from the Armed Forces to ensure the successful completion of the initiatives, describing enhanced cooperation as vital to translating policy research into measurable national impact.

In his response, General Oluyede assured Omotayo of improved collaboration between the Armed Forces of Nigeria and the institute.

He praised the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies for its enduring contributions to national development, particularly through the training of strategic-level manpower and its rigorous research into transformational public policies.

Oluyede noted that the institute’s emphasis on research and development is especially critical as Nigeria confronts increasingly complex security and socio-economic challenges.

The Chief of Defence Staff expressed the readiness of the Armed Forces to partner with the institute in crafting sustainable and forward-looking solutions to these issues.
