NAFDAC confirms recalled Indomie Noodles Vegetable Flavour

NAFDAC confirms recalled Indomie Noodles Vegetable Flavour did not originate from Nigeria and is not sold locally, urging vigilance and reporting

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control has clarified that the Indomie Noodles Vegetable Flavour recalled by French authorities did not originate from Nigeria and is not sold in the country.

In a statement on Sunday, Director-General Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye said the product was flagged by Rappel Conso, France’s consumer safety authority, due to undeclared allergens—milk and eggs—which pose health risks to individuals with allergies or intolerances.

NAFDAC has activated nationwide surveillance to prevent any possible entry of the recalled product into Nigeria. Zonal directors and state coordinators have been directed to intensify monitoring and remove the product immediately if discovered.

The agency recalled that in 2023, Indomie Special Chicken Flavour was involved in an international food safety alert in Taiwan and Malaysia.

At that time, NAFDAC conducted investigations and confirmed that all noodles produced locally remained safe for consumption.

Prof. Adeyeye said: “Surveillance has been directed across all zones and states, and zonal directors and state coordinators have been mandated to mop up the product if found within their jurisdictions.”

She emphasised that the Indomie Noodles Vegetable Flavour implicated in France is not registered with NAFDAC for sale in Nigeria. Noodles are listed on the Federal Government’s Import Prohibition List, making the entry of the recalled product highly unlikely.

All Indomie instant noodles and other brands registered in Nigeria are locally manufactured and approved only after strict regulatory checks covering Good Manufacturing Practice.

NAFDAC’s Ports Inspection Directorate has also been placed on heightened alert to prevent importation of the implicated product.

Consumers have been advised to exercise caution, discard the recalled product if found, and report any suspicion of its sale to the nearest NAFDAC office or via the toll-free line, 0800-162-3322.

Adverse events or side effects should be reported through NAFDAC’s e-reporting platforms at [www.nafdac.gov.ng](http://www.nafdac.gov.ng).

The agency reassured the public of its proactive stance in safeguarding public health, including Nigerians who may purchase products abroad or online.
