Tyson Fury honours Anthony Joshua’s friends killed in Nigerian car crash as Joshua recovers in hospital following tragic accident

British boxing champion Tyson Fury has paid tribute to two close friends of fellow fighter Anthony Joshua, who were killed in a car crash on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Monday.

Fury took to Instagram to express his sorrow, reposting an image commemorating Joshua’s strength and conditioning coach Sina Ghami and personal trainer Kevin “Latif” Ayodele, writing: “This is so sad. May God give them a good bed in heaven.” He added: “There is no tomorrow. Live, love, and give.”

Joshua, 36, was a passenger in a black Lexus SUV that collided with a stationary truck near Sagamu in Ogun State around midday local time on 29 December.

Preliminary reports from the Federal Road Safety Corps indicate excessive speed and improper overtaking may have contributed to the crash.

Videos from the scene showed Joshua appearing dazed and in pain as he was assisted from the wreckage.

The British-Nigerian boxer sustained injuries initially reported as minor, but concerns remain about potential internal damage. He is currently under observation in a Lagos hospital in stable condition.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu personally called Joshua to offer condolences and confirmed he is receiving appropriate care.
