Funke Akindele’s ‘Behind the Scene’ grosses N2.1 billion, making her Africa’s highest-grossing filmmaker and a Nollywood record-breaker
Nigerian filmmaker and actress Funke Akindele has made history as her latest movie, Behind the Scene, became the first Nollywood film to surpass N2 billion in cinema sales.

FilmOne, a leading Nigerian film distributor, announced that the movie grossed N2,103,039,706 in just one month after its release.
The achievement establishes Akindele as Africa’s most commercially successful filmmaker, as well as the highest-grossing producer, writer, and director in West African film history.
In addition, Akindele has become the first filmmaker to top the African box office for three consecutive years.
Celebrating the milestone on Instagram, the actress said, “We have every reason to thank God. 2 billion and counting is not a joke.
Ladies and gentlemen, Behind the Scene to the world.”
She added, “Joy overflows, my heart is full of gratitude to God and my amazing fans. Reaching this incredible milestone and still counting would not have been possible without you. I’m deeply grateful.”
