Facebook African Creators Summit presence highlights tools for growth, monetisation and engagement as creators gather in Lagos for the 2026 event

Facebook will take centre stage at the 2026 African Creators Summit in Lagos, offering on-ground experiences designed to connect with Africa’s fast-growing digital talent and creator economy.

The summit, scheduled for Thursday, January 29, at the Federal Palace Hotel, is expected to bring together creators, storytellers, innovators and digital entrepreneurs from across the continent under the theme, Building a Sustainable Ecosystem Where Africa Trades Its Swag.

Organisers said the theme aligns closely with Facebook’s strategy of equipping creators with tools that support audience growth, monetisation, discovery and community engagement, positioning the platform as a key enabler of Africa’s digital creative economy.

Speaking on Facebook’s participation, Head of Communications for Sub-Saharan Africa at Meta, Oluwasola Obagbemi, said the company remains committed to supporting creators within the communities where they already operate.

“We are dedicated to empowering creators in the communities they’re already active in so they can succeed and grow on Facebook while sharing original and engaging content,” Obagbemi said.

He added that events such as the African Creators Summit provide an opportunity to demonstrate Facebook’s core mission of connection, while showcasing how creators can reach global audiences and generate income across multiple content formats.

“We are excited to showcase the opportunities Facebook offers to reach a massive global audience, connect more deeply with real people, and earn real money across all content formats,” he said.

The Facebook African Creators Summit presence will include an interactive booth where creators, young adults and Nigerian celebrities can connect, collaborate and participate in immersive experiences focused on authentic engagement and community building.

Convener of the African Creators Summit, Oladapo Adewunmi, described creators as powerful drivers of culture and economic influence, noting that the summit was created to bridge gaps between creatives, businesses, platforms and policymakers across Africa.

“Creators are the teachers and architects of modern culture,” Adewunmi said. “What they build today becomes the standard tomorrow, shaping how we dress, how we think, and how we show up in the world.”

He said Facebook’s continued support of the summit underscored its long-standing belief in African creators and their ability to drive global impact from the continent.

Over the years, Facebook has expanded its creator-focused offerings across Groups, Video and Marketplace, adapting to evolving needs within the digital economy.

Organisers said the summit is positioned not just as an annual event but as a catalyst for a more inclusive, future-focused Pan-African creative ecosystem.
