Nollywood stars including Wumi Toriola and Mide Martins appeal for financial support as actress Aunty Ajara battles severe liver-related illness

Popular Nollywood stars, including Wumi Toriola, Mide Martins, Afeez Owo and Ronke Oshodi Oke, have appealed to the public for financial assistance for small-screen actress Aunty Ajara, who is currently battling a severe liver-related illness.

Ajara’s condition came to light after a viral video surfaced on social media showing her in a hospital bed, on oxygen, tearfully pleading for help.

In the video, the visibly distressed actress, who is also pregnant, was heard saying, “Please help me,” sparking widespread concern among fans and colleagues.

Following the clip, several Nollywood actors and actresses took to social media to solicit financial support and prayers for Ajara’s recovery.

The appeal, however, triggered mixed reactions online, with some critics accusing celebrities of relying on public donations for colleagues while allegedly spending lavishly at events and parties.

Responding to the backlash, actress Mama No Network addressed the situation in a video shared on her Instagram page.

She revealed that the entertainment industry had already raised over ₦5 million for Ajara, yet her health continued to deteriorate.

“Good evening everyone. I’m here because of Ajara. Please, for God’s sake, I’m pleading with you. Ajara is in critical condition,” Mama No Network said.

She explained that Ajara had been using much of her earnings to care for her mother, who is suffering from a stroke, which had limited her ability to manage her own health.

“This is not content. We need financial support from the public and serious prayers. It’s not that Ajara has not been working, but she has been using most of her earnings to take care of her mother,” she said.

Mama No Network further disclosed that Ajara’s condition is complicated by pregnancy and a newly discovered liver disease.

“I was also shocked to hear that she’s battling a liver-related illness, and on top of that, she’s pregnant,” she added.

The story has drawn national attention, highlighting the challenges faced by working actors in Nollywood and prompting calls for urgent support from the public to assist Ajara during her critical illness.
