Police spokesperson, Deputy Superintendent of Police Dungus Abdulkarim, confirmed that the incident occurred on Friday night, February 6, after officers responded to a distress call from the neighbourhood.
According to the police, the victim was found lying in his room in a pool of blood after sustaining severe injuries from a sharp object.
He was immediately rushed to a nearby clinic before being referred to the Azare Medical Centre for urgent treatment.
DSP Abdulkarim said the suspect fled the scene shortly after the attack but was tracked and arrested on Monday following intelligence-led efforts by security operatives.
The husband has reportedly identified his wife as the attacker but has not been able to provide a detailed statement due to the severity of his injuries and ongoing medical care.
Police said investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances that led to the violent altercation and to determine the appropriate charges.
The incident has sparked renewed concern over the rising cases of domestic violence in Nigeria, particularly those involving young couples and resulting in life-threatening injuries.
