Peterfad recounted that he initially received notice of the meeting from Hon. Akeem Ashiru, Remo North Local Government Secretary.
Upon arrival, security personnel reportedly denied him entry, citing instructions allegedly from Hon. Adebiyi Adeleye, the Ogun State Special Adviser on Political Matters, and LG Chairman Hon. Muyiwa Sodade.
After reporting the matter to Governor Abiodun, Peterfad was invited back to the meeting.
He said that upon re-entry, both Adeleye and Sodade made disparaging remarks about him to attendees, which heightened tensions.
The situation escalated following a contentious discussion regarding video recording.
Peterfad reported that Mr. Adeyinka Adeleye, popularly known as Lekutty, allegedly instigated the attack by slapping him, and others, including Hon. Ganiu Onabowu (Gilo), joined in. Thugs reportedly associated with Lekutty participated in the assault.
Peterfad sustained serious injuries before intervention by Hon. Seyi Osho, Ward 2 Councilor, and Mr. Dare Odufowokan, Ogun State SSA to the Governor on Public Communications.
He was later taken to the Isara Remo Police Division and subsequently to the Police Area Command for official complaints.
Medical attention was provided at Livewell Hospital, Sagamu. As of the report, Peterfad remains alive but injured.
Efforts to reach Adeyinka Adeleye for comment were unsuccessful.
Community members, APC party members, and political observers in Remo North have raised concerns over political thuggery, urging Governor Abiodun, the Ogun APC Chairman, and party stakeholders to investigate and ensure accountability.
