Former CBN Deputy Governor Tunde Lemo Ogun 2027 bid confirmed at APC ward congress in Abeokuta

Tunde Lemo, former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, on Wednesday confirmed his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election in Ogun State during the All Progressives Congress ward congress at Ward 12, Ita-Agemo, Igbein, Abeokuta.

Speaking with journalists at the venue, Lemo addressed speculation surrounding his political ambition and declared his interest in the race.

“Yes, of course, I have my eyes on 2027 just like everyone else, but everything is in the hands of God,” Lemo said.

The Former CBN Deputy Governor Tunde Lemo Ogun 2027 bid now moves from speculation to open declaration as early political alignments gather momentum.

Lemo commended party members for the peaceful conduct of the congress.

He attributed the calm atmosphere to the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu and the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun over the past six years.

According to Lemo, the ward congress was organised to consolidate unity and harmony within the party.

The former apex bank official described the exercise as peaceful and vibrant. He said the turnout underscored the importance of building party strength and leadership from the grassroots.

“I am not here to canvass personal position, but my presence here today is to underscore the fact that APC is an organic party. You can see the crowd, and we are members of one family,” Lemo said.

“You have not seen anybody fighting. We are very strong and very vibrant, and people are happy because of the transformative agenda of President Bola Tinubu.”

Lemo added that the congress marked a crucial step in strengthening the party’s internal democratic process.

“At the same time, we are building the base, because today we are having the ward congresses, and from there, of course, we move up to the local, state and National Congress,” he stated.

“So I’m very excited that we have very loyal party members who have trooped out in their large numbers to ensure the success of this very important democratic exercise.”

Lemo said his attendance reflected his commitment to governance rather than personal ambition.

“You all know who I am, and you know what I’ve been trying to do. But by the special grace of God, it is about governance,” he said.
