Ogun Police release Mirabel to Women Affairs Ministry as rape allegation investigation continues with medical exam completed

The Ogun State Police Command on Wednesday released TikTok influencer Abigeal Nsikak, popularly known as Mirabel, to the Ogun State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development following her voluntary appearance at a police station in connection with her widely publicised rape allegation.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed the development in a statement issued via X.

DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi confirmed that Mirabel presented herself of her own free will and underwent a comprehensive medical examination.

According to the police spokesperson, Mirabel has been cooperating fully with investigators.

In consideration of her welfare and support needs, she was released to the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, which has undertaken responsibility for her care and assured the Command that she will be made available whenever required as investigations continue.

The Ogun State Police emphasised that the Mirabel rape allegation investigation is being handled with professionalism, sensitivity and thoroughness.

The Command appealed to members of the public to refrain from speculative commentary and allow due process to take its course.

The case first gained national attention in mid-February when Mirabel posted emotional videos on TikTok alleging a home invasion and sexual assault at her residence in Ogijo, Ogun State.

The claims sparked public outrage and prompted conversations among celebrities and activists about sexual violence.

However, the allegation later came under scrutiny amid reported inconsistencies, including the absence of phone records and no visible evidence of forced entry at the scene.

In a subsequent conversation with activist VeryDarkMan, Mirabel reportedly stated that she might not have been raped, leading to calls from some quarters for possible prosecution over an alleged false claim.

No arrests have been announced in relation to the alleged incident, and the investigation remains ongoing.

The Ogun State Police reiterated its commitment to treating all reports of sexual violence seriously while upholding fairness and the rule of law.
