The incident was confirmed on Monday in a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the Federal Fire Service, Taraba State Command, Mr Sylvanus Mikailu.

According to the statement, the fire affected two residential buildings comprising twin flats, each containing four-bedroom apartments and self-contained units used for housing purposes. No casualty was recorded during the incident.

The agency disclosed that its personnel responded swiftly following a distress call, preventing the flames from spreading to nearby structures within the densely populated neighbourhood.

“The Federal Fire Service, Taraba State Command, successfully responded to a fire outbreak in a twin flat used for residential purposes, preventing extensive damage and saving property valued at approximately ₦52,000,000,” the statement noted.

The firefighting operation was led by Assistant Superintendent of Fire II Bruno Nsame, whose team was credited with rapidly containing and extinguishing the blaze through effective deployment of equipment and coordinated emergency action.

Officials said the prompt intervention proved decisive in averting what could have escalated into a major residential disaster.

Acting State Controller of the command, Mr Yakubu Dungus, subsequently urged residents across Taraba State to strictly observe fire safety precautions and immediately alert emergency responders during fire incidents to enable timely intervention.

He also advised members of the public to contact the Federal Fire Service, Taraba Command, through emergency lines 07064454730 or 112 whenever fire emergencies occur.
