A traveller exposes hidden cameras in hotels and short-let apartments, urging guests to check rooms carefully for disguised recording devices

A man has revealed alarming experiences with hidden surveillance in hotels and short-let apartments, warning guests to stay vigilant while travelling.

The incident occurred in a property where he discovered a tiny camera concealed inside what appeared to be an ordinary pen.

The man, who wished to remain anonymous for safety reasons, explained that he noticed the pen positioned unusually on a shelf facing the bed.

After over 15 minutes of suspicion, he examined the pen closely and discovered a memory card inside it.

The card contained recordings of him, highlighting the potential invasion of privacy.

“I didn’t call out or mention the names of those places because I don’t like that kind of attention. Doing so would only land me on blogs and create unnecessary drama,” he said.

He added that publicly exposing the hotels would require providing all evidence and timestamps, potentially revealing his identity.

He also described checking out without any staff questioning the pen, which raised concerns about the prevalence of such devices in lodging spaces.

The man urged travellers to be cautious and check surroundings for unusual items such as smoke detectors, pens, or other incongruous objects.

This warning comes amid growing concerns over hidden surveillance in short-term accommodation, emphasizing the importance of guest vigilance and awareness in private lodging spaces.
