Chris Okafor withdraws apology to Doris Ogala, stating he did not admit wrongdoing and the matter is now before the court

Chris Okafor, founder of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministry, has formally withdrawn the apology he previously offered to actress Doris Ogala and other women over past allegations, describing it as misunderstood.

Speaking during a church service in a video recently circulated online, Okafor said the apology was primarily intended to protect senior church leaders from being drawn into the controversy.

“The reason why I came to apologise the last time was that the fathers of faith that stood by me were being dragged. And I didn’t want them to be dragged to it,” Okafor explained.

The cleric clarified that he never admitted to any wrongdoing, adding: “And let me reiterate… I withdraw that. There is no single apology to that person because I don’t apologise for what I did not know, for what I did not do, for what I did not get involved in.”

Okafor emphasised that the matter is currently before the courts and should be resolved through legal channels.

“I cannot apologise for what I did not do… The matter is before the court. My evidence has been put before the court. Whoever claims to have evidence, bring it before the court,” he stated.

The statement signals a continuation of a highly publicised dispute involving allegations of misconduct, which has attracted significant media attention across Nigeria.

Legal analysts say Okafor’s withdrawal underscores the sensitivity of cases involving public figures and the potential reputational implications for both complainants and supporters within religious organisations.

Observers note that the issue will likely continue to attract scrutiny as it proceeds through the judicial system.
