Nigerian troops neutralised 61 ISWAP terrorists in Borno, repelling a major assault with air and ground support during Operation Hadin Kai

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai, in collaboration with the Nigerian Air Force, reportedly neutralised 61 terrorists suspected to be members of the Islamic State of West Africa Province, ISWAP, following an attempted infiltration of Malam Fatori, Abadam Local Government Area, on Wednesday morning.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama disclosed the development on X, noting that the assailants advanced on foot and deployed armed drones in a desperate attempt to breach the defences of the 68 Battalion location.

Makama highlighted that the integration of air and ground manoeuvres allowed the troops to fix, target, and eliminate the terrorists in large numbers, preventing a potential security disaster in the region.

The operation underscores the continued commitment of Nigerian security forces to combating terrorism in the northeast, where recent attacks by ISWAP had previously claimed several lives and heightened regional insecurity.

Military sources confirm that the coordinated response of the Army and Air Force has significantly disrupted ISWAP’s operational capacity in Borno, delivering a powerful blow to the terrorist group.
