Tinubu returns Abuja after a week in Lagos marked by Eid celebrations, governors’ meetings and diplomatic engagements

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu returned to the Federal Capital Territory on Wednesday evening after a week-long stay in Lagos marked by Eid-el-Fitr celebrations and high-level political engagements.

The presidential aircraft departed the Presidential Wing of Murtala Mohammed International Airport at 6:44 pm, according to a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had earlier arrived in Nigeria from the United Kingdom in the early hours of Friday following what the presidency described as a historic state visit.

During his stay, the President observed Eid-el-Fitr prayers at Dodan Barracks, marking the end of Ramadan.

The visit also featured a series of political consultations, including a meeting with 23 state governors such as Biodun Oyebanji.

The engagement formed part of ongoing coordination between the presidency and sub-national governments.

A delegation from the European Union also met with the President, although details of the discussions were not made public.

In addition, members of the Lagos State Governance Advisory Council were received, reinforcing ties within the ruling party structure.

Vice President Kashim Shettima travelled to Lagos to brief the President on his recent visit to Borno State following a suicide bombing incident in the region, highlighting ongoing security concerns.

At the departure ceremony, Dapo Abiodun and Olusegun Osoba were present alongside Babajide Sanwo-Olu, his deputy Obafemi Hamzat, and other senior officials.
