LIRS extends tax filing deadline to April 14, giving Lagos taxpayers more time to submit annual returns via eTax
The Lagos State Internal Revenue Service has announced an extension of the deadline for filing individual annual income tax returns to April 14, 2026.

LIRS extends tax filing deadline by two weeks, shifting the statutory cut-off date from March 31 to allow taxpayers additional time to complete and submit accurate returns.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Executive Chairman of LIRS, Ayodele Subair, said the extension was aimed at improving compliance and easing the filing process for individuals across the state.
He noted that while March 31 remains the official deadline under the law, the extension provides a practical window for taxpayers to meet their obligations without errors.
Dr Subair urged individuals to prioritise timely filing, stressing that tax compliance should become a routine personal responsibility.
He also reaffirmed that the LIRS eTax platform remains the only approved channel for submitting annual returns.
Manual filing has been fully discontinued, making electronic submission mandatory for all taxpayers.
Describing the platform as secure, accessible, and user-friendly, the agency advised users to ensure accurate entry of their Tax Identification Number when completing submissions.
The revenue service added that support remains available through its offices and digital communication channels for taxpayers requiring assistance.
