The association directed disc jockeys both in Nigeria and in the diaspora to refrain from playing the Grammy-winning artist’s music pending the outcome of an internal investigation.

The move comes after reports that Burna Boy and members of his crew were involved in a confrontation with DJ Tunez at a nightclub.

Eyewitness accounts circulating online suggested the disagreement escalated, with multiple individuals reportedly involved.

In a strongly worded statement, the association said the decision reflects its commitment to protecting its members and upholding fairness within the profession.

“Burna Boy’s music is temporarily out of any of our DJs’ playlists till further notice,” the statement read, adding that a thorough investigation into the incident is underway.

The association urged DJs nationwide to remain professional and respectful in their dealings with artists, while also calling for tolerance and unity within the industry.

It noted that discrimination in any form would not be tolerated and reiterated its position that “all DJs are equal.”

The Nigerian DJ Association bans Burna Boy songs decision signals a decisive stance within the entertainment sector, as stakeholders await clarity on the reported incident.
