El-Rufai bail hearing adjournment as Kaduna High Court delays ruling on former governor’s bail request to June 2026
The Kaduna State High Court on Tuesday adjourned the bail hearing of former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, shifting the ruling on his pre-trial release application to the first week of June 2026.

El-Rufai adjournment was announced by trial judge Darius Khobo after proceedings in which the former governor was brought to court by operatives of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission and the Department of State Services.
El-Rufai’s counsel, Ukpon Akpan, criticised the repeated postponements, describing the delays as frustrating and detrimental to his client’s right to a timely judicial process.
The latest adjournment follows an earlier deferral by the court, which had initially scheduled April 21 for ruling on the bail application before shifting the date again.
Nasir El-Rufai was arraigned on April 13 by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission on an amended nine-count charge bordering on alleged fraud and abuse of office.
The commission had earlier dropped a co-defendant, Amadu Sule, from the case before proceeding with the amended charges.
In a separate ruling at the Federal High Court in Kaduna, El-Rufai was granted bail in the sum of ₦200 million.
