Chelsea sack Liam Rosenior after disappointing run

Chelsea sack Liam Rosenior after a poor run of results, with five straight defeats leaving the club below expectations

Chelsea Football Club on Wednesday sacked head coach Liam Rosenior after just 107 days in charge, following a damaging run of five consecutive Premier League defeats without scoring.

The club confirmed the decision in an official statement, describing it as necessary after recent performances fell below expected standards.

“Chelsea Football Club has today parted company with Head Coach Liam Rosenior,” the statement read. “The decision has not been taken lightly, but recent results and performances have not met the necessary standards.”

Chelsea Football Club expressed gratitude to Liam Rosenior and his staff, noting that he conducted himself with professionalism and integrity during his short tenure.

Liam Rosenior, who joined from RC Strasbourg Alsace in January on a six-year contract, leaves the club in seventh place, seven points adrift of the UEFA Champions League qualification spots.

Despite the setback, Chelsea Football Club remains in contention in the FA Cup and continues its push for European qualification.

Assistant coach Calum McFarlane will take interim charge until the end of the season, starting with the FA Cup semi-final against Leeds United at Wembley.

The club said it will begin a careful process to appoint a long-term successor, signalling a period of reflection aimed at restoring stability to the team.

Liam Rosenior’s exit follows defeats to Newcastle United, Everton, Manchester City, Manchester United and Brighton & Hove Albion, a sequence that ultimately proved decisive.

The swift decision underlines Chelsea Football Club’s urgency to reverse a troubling slide and revive its season.
