Security analyst and counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama reported on Monday, April 27, 2026, that a Kebbi road accident tragedy has claimed at least 11 lives and left 12 others injured in a devastating collision along the Dakingari–Kamba road in Kebbi State, north-western Nigeria, in a late-night crash that has triggered widespread concern.

According to information shared via Makama’s verified X handle and corroborated by security sources, the fatal incident occurred at approximately 10:00 p.m. at Bakin Dutse, when a Mitsubishi Canter vehicle driven by Sanusi Aliyu of Kamba collided with a trailer whose registration number and driver remain unidentified.
The Canter vehicle, which was transporting passengers and goods from Aljannare market to Kamba, reportedly attempted to avoid a pothole along the poorly maintained stretch of road.
In the process, several passengers were thrown off the moving vehicle, exposing them to oncoming traffic.
Security sources said the trailer, approaching from the opposite direction at speed, ran over the fallen passengers in what witnesses described as a horrific and chaotic scene.
The accident tragedy has since raised fresh concerns over road safety and infrastructure conditions in the region.
Among those confirmed dead was 25-year-old Nura Nuhu from Sokoto State, alongside 10 other victims who were pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident has been described by officials as deeply tragic and avoidable, given the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Twelve others, including Aliyu Suleman, 45, sustained serious injuries of varying degrees and were immediately rushed to the General Hospital in Kamba for emergency treatment.
Medical personnel are continuing to monitor their condition, with some reported to be in critical care.
Authorities confirmed that the bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the hospital morgue pending autopsy and identification procedures.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the identity of the trailer driver and establish full responsibility for the crash.
