According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, discussions between Mourinho’s representatives and senior figures at the Spanish giants have progressed positively in recent weeks.
Posting on X on Wednesday, Romano stated that although talks had advanced significantly, final approval from Pérez would still be required before any formal agreement could be completed.
“José Mourinho’s return to Real Madrid now advancing to the final stages. Talks are progressing well. Final approval from Florentino Pérez still needed, likely to wait until the elections… but Mourinho is ready, and talks have been productive,” Romano wrote.
The Mourinho Real Madrid Return discussions are understood to have gathered momentum as both parties become increasingly aligned on the structure of a possible comeback.
Mourinho, who managed Real Madrid between 2010 and 2013, is reportedly open to returning to the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium and prepared to take charge should the club decide to proceed with the appointment.
During his previous spell in Madrid, Mourinho guided the club to a La Liga title, Copa del Rey triumph and Spanish Super Cup victory.
The Portuguese coach was also credited with restoring Real Madrid’s competitiveness in Europe during a period heavily dominated domestically by rivals FC Barcelona.
Although no official agreement has yet been announced, reports suggest confidence is growing behind the scenes, with insiders reportedly describing negotiations as advanced.
A notable aspect of the ongoing talks is the reported influence of upcoming club election timelines, which could affect the speed and timing of any final decision from Pérez.
