FRSC and DSS officer attack Abuja incident reportedly occurred on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at about 3:20 p.m. around the RS7.118 Idu Unit Command in the Federal Capital Territory, when a patrol team stopped a Toyota Carina over an alleged traffic violation.

According to Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed, the driver initially refused to comply with lawful instructions to stop and continued driving recklessly before being intercepted in traffic near the command area.

The situation reportedly escalated when FRSC officers attempted to carry out routine checks on the driver and vehicle documents, leading to a confrontation that turned hostile.

The agency stated that the suspect allegedly became verbally abusive and resisted enforcement procedures before advancing towards officers and discharging two gunshots within the vicinity of the command.

Despite the escalation, FRSC personnel were praised for exercising restraint and professionalism, ultimately disarming the suspect without any loss of life, although one marshal reportedly sustained minor injuries.

The suspect was later arrested and handed over to the Nigeria Police Force alongside the firearm and other recovered items for further investigation.

Preliminary findings reportedly identified the individual as a personnel of the Department of State Services, prompting the transfer of the case to the appropriate authorities for further inquiry.

Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed commended the officers involved, stressing that no individual, regardless of status or agency affiliation, is above the law.
