NSCDC Officers Arrested Over Fatal Shooting as police probe colleague’s death and trace alleged N2bn transactions linked to suspects

The Nigeria Police Force has arrested at least three officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Mining Marshals Unit over their alleged involvement in the death of a senior colleague, Agada Levi Agada, during an operation in Nasarawa State.

The NSCDC Officers Arrested Over Fatal Shooting followed an investigation launched by the Force Intelligence Department after a petition was submitted by the deceased officer’s family through their legal representative.

According to the police, the arrested officers include Simeon Yakubu Anyebe, Ibrahim Ayefu and Iwodi Obochi, all attached to the Mining Marshals Unit.

The deceased officer was reportedly shot while on duty during an operation at Rafin Gabas in the Agwada area of Nasarawa State, a development that has raised serious concerns within security circles.

Police authorities disclosed that the investigation has also uncovered financial transactions linked to some of the suspects, including the tracing of over N2 billion to a bank account belonging to a Mining Marshal operative.

NSCDC Officers Arrested Over Fatal Shooting probe has widened, with investigators examining the nature of the transactions and possible connections between multiple personnel within the unit.

The police statement noted that several Mining Marshal operatives were invited for questioning but failed to honour the invitations, prompting further scrutiny into their activities.

Investigators reportedly traced the movement of funds through a Zenith Bank account belonging to Sergeant Labaran, with evidence suggesting transfers to and from accounts linked to other suspects.

Authorities say efforts are ongoing to establish whether the financial activities are connected to the fatal incident or indicate a broader pattern of misconduct within the unit.

The development has intensified public attention on the operations of the Mining Marshals, as security agencies continue efforts to uncover the circumstances surrounding the officer’s death and the alleged financial irregularities.
