Timaya Insecurity Appeal: Nigerian singer calls for urgent action against kidnapping and supports families affected by insecurity

Nigerian music star Timaya has appealed for stronger government action to tackle insecurity and kidnapping across the country, expressing solidarity with families affected by the growing security challenges.

In a public statement released on Monday, Timaya said his thoughts were with Nigerians experiencing fear, uncertainty and loss as a result of abductions and violent attacks in different parts of the country.

The singer said musicians have a responsibility to reflect the realities of society and lend their voices to issues affecting ordinary citizens.

“Our hearts are with every Nigerian family currently living through the pain, fear, and uncertainty caused by kidnapping and insecurity across our nation,” he said.

Timaya noted that countless families remain distressed while waiting for the safe return of loved ones held in captivity.

The artiste described the situation as deeply troubling, stressing that no parent should have to worry about whether a child will return home safely and no family should be forced to endure the anguish associated with abduction.

The Timaya Insecurity Appeal also included a call for greater urgency from government authorities in addressing security threats across the country.

He urged increased collaboration and decisive action to confront the challenges facing many communities, emphasising that the protection of citizens should remain a national priority.

“The safety of citizens must remain a shared national priority. Every Nigerian deserves the freedom to live, work, travel, and pursue their dreams without fear,” he stated.

Timaya further encouraged Nigerians to remain united and compassionate during difficult times, saying the country would be stronger through collective responsibility and solidarity.

Addressing families directly affected by kidnapping and insecurity, the singer offered words of support and hope, assuring them that they were not alone in their struggle.

He also prayed for the safe return of those still in captivity and for strength and healing for relatives coping with the emotional burden of uncertainty.

The statement comes amid heightened national concern over a series of kidnapping incidents that have triggered calls from citizens, civil society groups and public figures for stronger security measures.

Timaya concluded by urging Nigerians to embrace unity and compassion while working towards a safer and more secure nation.

“Nigeria is stronger when we stand together. May we continue to choose compassion, unity, and collective responsibility as we work towards a safer nation for all,” he said.
