Minister of Power Joseph Tegbe commends TCN, NDPHC and AEDC for major achievements in Nigeria’s power sector and infrastructure improvements
The Honourable Minister of Power, Joseph Tegbe, has commended the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC), and Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) for what he described as significant milestones in Nigeria’s power sector aimed at strengthening electricity infrastructure and service delivery.

In a statement, the minister praised the Transmission Company of Nigeria for the successful energisation of a 300MVA transformer at the Katampe Transmission Substation in Abuja, a development expected to boost transmission capacity across the Federal Capital Territory.
He also highlighted the swift collaboration between TCN and AEDC in restoring power after the sudden failure of a 100MVA transformer last Friday, which disrupted electricity supply in parts of the capital.
The minister described the coordinated response as a strong demonstration of inter-agency efficiency and commitment to public service delivery.
He further commended the Niger Delta Power Holding Company under the leadership of Managing Director Engr. Jennifer Adighije for the revival of the 450-megawatt Alaoji Open Cycle Power Plant in Abia State.
According to him, the facility, which had been inactive since 2023, has now been restored and is capable of contributing up to 375 megawatts to the national grid, thereby improving power supply across the South-East.
Tegbe assured that the Ministry of Power would continue to recognise excellence across agencies, noting that productivity and innovation remain key priorities under his leadership.

He urged stakeholders in the power sector to remain committed to strengthening Nigeria’s electricity value chain and ensuring improved supply to households, businesses, and industries.
